Winter Campaigns Back for 2024

Secret Pantsa

It’s time for your favourite appeal of the year once again!! Back by ever popular demand, but a first time for our new supporters — it’s #SecretPantsa!

Are you tired of the same old wasteful Secret Santa routine in your workplace? Tell your boss you want to do this instead! It’s our only appeal of the year specifically aimed at workplaces and staff rooms. Follow the instructions on the graphic and donate via the points listed in our website. Don’t forget to label your donation and add a note if you want it acknowledging. Or you could arrange drop-off of your bulk donation for a photo for your workplace on info@sharewearclothingscheme.org.

NEW THIS YEAR: Best of all, your workplace can donate the cost of the pants instead of buying them — even easier for you! https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/secret-pantsa

We’ll acknowledge your donation publicly with a photo of the pants we bought from our supporting suppliers. Give the gift of underwear this Christmas to someone who can’t afford it

Its A Wrap

Back for yet another year! This year our annual #ItsAWrap appeal is more needed than ever. Why?

In recent years we’ve seen a sharp increase in the number of people asking for winter woolies to wear in THEIR OWN HOMES, because of the cost of heating. This winter we’re expecting record demand because the government has scrapped the winter fuel allowance, plunging thousands of pensioners into freezing conditions and bad health. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the child benefit cap has been extended, making it harder than ever for parents to keep every child warm and well.

How can you take part in #ItsAWrap?
1.🧤 Donate brilliant condition preloved or preferably brand new thermal hats, gloves and socks to one of our containers or drop-off points listed here: https://sharewearclothingscheme.org/donate-clothing/
If you’d like us to find your donation easily/acknowledge it publicly, bag it up with a separate #ItsAWrap label.

2. 🧦 Organize as a group to buy these items brand new, through your choir, team, church groups, book club, WI….etc etc. Once your group has finished collating all the donations, get in touch and we’ll arrange a time to accept your bulk donation with a thank you photo at our premises. Please note, this bulk donation can be made by prior arrangement only.

3. 🪙 Donate funds to save time, and we’ll negotiate bulk discount deals through our brand partners and other business supporters. Donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/its-a-wrap

4. 🤝 If you’re a ReLived by Sharewear member, donate via your ReLived box at work or school.

How will YOU take part in our biggest and most needed #ItsAWrap appeal in our ten winters?

Sharewear appoints award-winning Nottingham Menswear designer Ash Gangotra as our first ever Ambassador

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that award winning menswear fashion designer, entrepreneur and brand owner Ash Gangotra joins Sharewear Clothing Scheme today as our first ever Ambassador. Being Nottingham born and bred, just like us, Ash’s vast experience in the fashion and textiles industry, as well as his strong pedigree with both local and international charities, entrepreneurial skills and his network of associates, make him the perfect person to join Team Sharewear as we approach our tenth birthday next March.

Sharewear Clothing Scheme – Chairperson

We are seeking a Chair to the Board of Trustees at Sharewear Clothing Scheme – an award-winning charity that aims to alleviate clothing poverty by providing clothing and bedding to those that need it.

This is an exciting time to join our charity. Established in 2014, Sharewear Clothing Scheme has supported nearly 80,000 of people in need, and receives referrals from over 250 organisations. Since January 2022, the charity has diverted 87 Tonnes of clothing from landfill. The charity has grown from a volunteer led organisation to having a small team of employees. Over the last few years, we have seen a huge growth in demand for our services. We need to continue to develop and innovate to meet this increase in demand, as well as attract funding and support to sustain our work.

Our new Chair will have a passion for our work and the skills to contribute to the good governance of the organisation as we develop and grow as a charity. They will support us to develop our services, to achieve financial sustainability and to develop strategies that make a positive difference to the lives of the people who use Sharewear Clothing Scheme.

If you are interested in applying to be our next Chair, please review the role description below:

And send a copy of your CV along with an expression of interest (max. 2 sides A4) to laura@sharewearclothingscheme.org by Monday, 15 May 2023

Sharewear Co-Founds the Right to Clothing Campaign

After establishing the Right to Clothing Network in our Clothing Poverty Awareness Week back in June, the Campaign itself got underway with a brilliant event at the University of Manchester on 22nd September 2022. The Right to Clothing Campaign has been co-founded by Sharewear and the Project for Peace and Justice, working with human rights and destitution researcher Dr Luke Graham. We aim to work towards a day when everyone has fair access to the Right to Clothing, whilst at the same time resurrecting recognition of this forgotten Human Right and taking action on the amount of clothing going to landfill or being incinerated.

For more information go to www.righttoclothing.org

Take part in our first action! Email your favourite brands and ask them what they do with their customer returns and end of line stock. We’ve made it very easy. Simply use our ready made tool here:  https://www.righttoclothing.org/emailbrands
