  • Supporting Families in Sutton-in-Ashfield

As well as helping three referral families on site today, we made a delivery to our distribution partner New Cross Community Church in Sutton-in-Ashfield.  Here’s Lay Minister Julie with some of the boxes of children’s clothing , uniform and coats we provided them with today. The church works with disadvantaged families in the New Cross […]

  • Suit Yourself at Sharewear

We had six referrals to the session today, clothing people with a very wide variety of needs. One of whom was this young man who, along with general clothing, was able to get this suit, shirt and tie for interviews which will hopefully get him into work.  The session was action-packed as usual as, in […]

  • Bring Your Daughter To Work Day at Sharewear

Helping us clothe two families today were some unexpected volunteers! Angela Cooke, daughter of CEO Louise lent a hand during her brief break from post-graduate training, and Isobel and Terushi came with their mums too!  And many hands certainly made light work, replenishing stocks from our donations. Go girls!

  • Creating Change For Our Volunteers Too

We received great news today! Ian, Sharewear volunteer for the last 18 months, has been given a full-time job! Ian, then long-term unemployed, joined us as a volunteer in February 2016 through the charity which was then supporting him — Hope into Action. Ian’s support from them ended later that year, but volunteering with us continued to […]

  • Kitted Out For Camp

A very busy session today saw us with a skeleton team of volunteers, managing to clothe 5 families, including a locally housed family from Syria.  In another family the mum was delighted to be given everything her daughter needed to be able to attend camp with school in September, including wellies, waterproof coat, onesie, trainers […]

  • Clothes for Young People Coming in and Going Out

Children from The Trinity School arrived with a mini bus full of donations on Friday, and were met by Paddington, our Sharewear Schools mascot. The school, a long-time supporter of our work, will hopefully be joining our Sharewear Schools Programme in the autumn. In addition to this, we also clothed two families on site – 4 […]

  • Quality Clothes for the Vulnerable

In a quieter session after a busy few weeks, lots of sorting took place as well as making up deliveries. Here, volunteers Lilian and Sue show a great example of the quality of our clothes donations: a brand new Disney Store ‘Frozen’ onesie, which will keep someone warm and happy come the autumn.

  • Busiest Ever Two Months

Here are just some of our amazing team, who coped with our busiest ever two months. In the first half of 2017 we have clothed 1,700 people, two thirds of them by delivery to other charities and groups who distribute our clothes to their service users. In May and June alone we have clothed over […]

  • Passing On to the Next Generation

Incredibly busy session with the team working so hard today. We clothed six families on site, made two deliveries to partners in Notts and began detailed preparations for our delivery to London next week supporting 20 families affected by the fire at Grenfell Tower.  Into this crazy scene walked Pooja, (right) who had just turned […]
