Our Ambassador for UK Clothing Poverty Awareness Day

We are delighted that Louise Regan, local Head Teacher and campaigner for a better society for all, has agreed to be an Ambassador for UK Clothing Poverty Awareness Day to be marked on 9th June each year. Louise explains here her reason for agreeing to take on this important and groundbreaking role. “It is a disgrace that in one of the richest countries in the world we have increasing numbers of people unable to afford the basic necessities to live. We see the impact of this on children and young people in our schools – families unable to afford shoes, coats and school uniform. In Nottingham we are lucky to have Sharewear to support our community. However we must continue to expose the increasing levels of poverty created by a government intent on cutting support and services to those that need it the most. That is why on the 9th June I will be joining with others to raise awareness about clothing poverty in the UK.”. Join us to mark the day https://www.awarenessdays.com/…/uk-clothing-poverty-awaren…/
